Turmeric has been used almost 4000 years in Indian culture for cooking and religious ceremonies. Similar to so many other nature-made-ingredients, turmeric has active components that can help alleviate common ailments. It is a root that is typically consumed in the form of powder and it’s in the same family as ginger, another root that has strong benefits. Both have recently made serious waves in the wellness and fitness community and are commonly found in coffee shops, juice bars, and holistic medical centers.

The main component that makes turmeric so powerful is curcumin – a compound found in this plant and that amounts for nearly 3% of its weight. Turmeric supplements contain a concentrated powder form of the root and therefore are guaranteed to have a stronger effect than the small addition added to food or drinks. The intense amount of turmeric consumed through a supplement is great for someone with acute ailments. However, if you interested in simply adding it to your diet, there is a caveat. Curcumin is drastically better absorbed with black pepper (I am talking 2000% better), thanks to the compound called piperine that naturally occurs in black pepper.

So what are the proven benefits of curcumin and turmeric, exactly? It’s difficult to cover all of them, and it is difficult to choose the ones that are the most important, so let’s list some that have been researched most extensively.

<h>Inflammation & Pain:</h>

Inflammation is a widespread occurrence throughout the body, and chronic inflammation can be very harmful. When chronic, it can cause dysfunction in the gut, joints, and organs. Wherever it is, consistent inflammation is very uncomfortable and painful. Curcumin is naturally anti-inflammatory and has been known to work powerfully throughout the body. Turmeric may help reduce the agony of chronic inflammation, especially caused by arthritis.

<h>Heart disease: </h>

It is said that heart disease is the number one cause of death in America. Endothelial dysfunction is where heart disease starts as it stops being able to regulate your blood pressure and prevent blood clotting. Turmeric has been studied and could be effective in helping this function. Additionally, heart disease could be controlled by reducing inflammation, and inflammation is the number one recorded benefit of turmeric.

<h>Depression: </h>

Most studies found that curcumin reduces symptoms of depression in patients already taking antidepressants. That means less money spent on medication due to the lower doses of antidepressants, and more importantly, fewer side effects.

<h>Alzheimer’s disease: </h>

Without overcomplicating, there is no completely effective treatment against Alzheimer’s disease. That being said, prevention against it is paramount. Turmeric could give us a fighting chance by crossing the blood-brain barrier and reducing inflammation and oxidative damage.

The list does not end there. There are so many studies showing just how beneficial turmeric and turmeric supplements may be in the prevention and treatment of various diseases, bringing us closer to realizing the full potential of this marvelous root. If you aren’t carrying it already, submit a quote for turmeric supplements or powder to us today!

Activated charcoal is showing up everywhere in the wellness world, and for good reason. It dates back to 1500 B.C. when it was used by Egyptians to treat intestinal ailments, it reemerged in the 1700s and 1800s as a medical treatment in Asia and it’s reemerging again today, making its’ prime debut in the Western World. In fact, there are more than 100,000 searches for “Activated Charcoal” in Google every month! The substance is commonly found in lattes, juices, face masks, soap, toothpaste, and supplements.

When most people think of charcoal, they think of the black rock used in barbecues and grills. So when we begin claiming the benefits of mixing charcoal in a juice or scrubbing it on your teeth with a toothbrush, it’s certainly not something most would be inclined to try. However, charcoal is more than just a black rock. Originally, it was used to remove poisons and is still used for all kinds of detoxification. Activated charcoal is also known as activated carbon. Activation occurs when the charcoal is introduced to steam, drastically increasing the surface area of the carbon molecules within it. These carbon molecules then develop deep pores, that help capture unwanted impurities, toxins, and oils. These pores are what makes detoxification possible!

Medically, it is primarily used when someone has ingested toxins. If you’re looking for a quick fix for a hangover or alcohol consumption in general, activated charcoal is the way to go. Since the pores remove unwanted substances at such a high rate, the charcoal can be taken to soak up the alcohol consumed and lower blood alcohol levels. In addition to the alcohol itself, the charcoal could also be taken the next morning to absorb the sulfates contained in wine, and the sugar in cocktails. This lessens the side effects of alcohol such as headaches, poor sleep, and body aches.

A second, equally as effective reason to take activated charcoal capsules, is to prevent stomach bugs. Similar to its ability to soak up sugars and sulfates from alcohol, it can absorb the bacteria from an upset stomach. It can be taken after contracting the bug to get rid of it, or it can be taken in smaller doses as a method of prevention. A good time to take activated charcoal preventatively is during travel. If you are in a foreign country and eating a lot of unknown food, this may help prevent the development of food poisoning.

It is important to know when to take the capsule so that its’ benefits are reaped and not counterproductive. Since it is meant to absorb unwanted substances, it should be taken after consumption but prior to digestion. Ideally, the capsule should be taken within 2-3 hours. When using it to combat illnesses, take it at the first sign of symptoms. It is also critical to schedule your intake of this supplement around your other medications or vitamins (if any). If you take them at the same time, then it will likely absorb those nutrients as well. It is important to take 2-3 hours apart from good foods/ vitamins/ medications to avoid losing desired nutrients.

Activated charcoal is also commonly used in soaps, toothpaste, and face masks. It is claimed to pull out impurities, not just within the digestive system, but also with the skin. Charcoal soap and face masks are touted to help those who suffer from eczema, acne, and rosacea. Charcoal toothpaste is claimed to promote teeth whitening. The results may take longer to take effect, yet, the benefit is these results come from a completely natural source rather than potentially toxic chemicals.

Many studies have been done on the effects and benefits of this supplement and it has proven repeatedly to be quite successful. The popularity and demand make this a hot item for supplements providers across the nation. Call or email us today for a quote request on an Activated Charcoal formula you can be proud to stock your shelves with!

Collagen powder is well loved among foodies, athletes, and beauticians. Not to mention, it’s incredibly easy to add to your diet. It’s good for smoothies, it’s great in coffee and lattes, you can add it to baked goods, it’s perfect to add to soups, and it’s even as simple as mixing it with water! The best part is not even the versatility it brings to food, but that it’s loaded with essential nutrients. It’s a significant source of protein, and it’s a miracle worker in terms of skin and tissue regeneration. Here we are going to break down the role it plays in the body, and the benefits of taking collagen powder and supplements.

Collagen is a protein that is naturally found in the body and it makes up almost one-third of the body’s protein. It is extremely significant to the body’s general system, but it is vital for the health of our gut, hair, nails and most of all – connective tissue. It can be synthesized by the cells themselves, but our ability to synthesize collagen weakens as we age due to factors like UV light exposure and environmental pollution. Consequently, most of us would benefit from having more collagen added to our diet.

<h>Gut Health</h>

Most of your digestive tract lining is made of collagen. It is what makes nutrient absorption possible so that the body receives the benefit from the foods consumed. If the body doesn’t have enough strength in this lining or if it gets damaged, then you could be at risk for “leaky gut syndrome”. Collagen is known to improve gut health, through the repairing and regeneration of the gut lining. With or without Leaky Gut, this lining is very important when it comes to nutrient absorption, and it needs to be healthy and strong in order for the body to absorb necessary vitamins and minerals.

<h>Skin</h>

Most all women want to have strong nails, healthy hair, and good skin elasticity. There are millions of products, treatments, and regimens that promise the above. Yet, there’s something that could be far more simple (and affordable) to target nails, hair, and skin. Healthy collagen production ensures cell turnover and regeneration. Collagen is beloved in the beauty industry and used in many products and treatments. However, a supplementing collagen in your diet by powder or tablets has the potential to have a more direct interaction with overall improvement.

<h>Connective Tissue</h>

To better understand connective tissue, think of movements like jumping, pulling, and stretching. These are all critical movements that most of us perform regularly. These movements are made possible by the joints, ligaments, and tendons. With aging, injuries, and general “wear and tear”, the connective tissue can get weakened and damaged. Supplementing collagen through tablets or powder could likely prevent this damage and reinforce the connective tissue that makes so many daily movements possible.

As you can see, collagen is essential to men and women, young and old. This protein that’s found in the body works to facilitate whole body health and wellness. Collagen powder is an easy addition to the diet because of how well it mixes with liquids. Whether it’s soup, smoothies, or your morning latte! Collagen supplements are becoming more and more popular as people discover the whole body benefit.

GMP is a great resource for collagen powders and supplement manufacturing. We would be more than happy to talk with you about what kind would work for you as a provider. Our company uses the highest quality ingredients, all purchased from suppliers who are licensed and insured to sell in the United States. If you aren’t carrying it already, submit a quote request for collagen powder or supplements to us today!

Have you ever laid in bed and felt restless, anxious, or wired? Sure, there are common factors against restful sleep and the natural “drifting off” feeling when you lay in bed. Maybe you’re anxious from the day you had, there’s disruptive noise, or you don’t feel well. Whatever the case, everyone wants to know if there is a solution or remedy to getting adequate sleep.

The brain naturally has a wake cycle and a sleep cycle. When one part is switched on, the other is switched off. Lack of sleep could be caused by too much wake drive. This may be the reason we lay in bed restless, why we fall asleep at the breakfast table, and why we never stop needing an afternoon nap. Sleeplessness has plagued our society recently, and there are many remedies for it. But the question remains, what exactly is keeping me awake and what can I do about it?

INSOMNIA

In some cases, insomnia is the simple answer. Insomnia could, basically, be defined as difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep. Anyone can suffer from insomnia, and the symptoms are relatively vague for the average person. However, as the condition worsens, the symptoms are very disruptive to living a normal life. These are fatigue, low energy, difficulty concentrating, mood disturbances, and decreased performance in work or at school.

DEPRESSION

Other issues of lack of sleep point to depression, which is a result of a chemical imbalance and hormone-related mood changes. Depression ranges from mild imbalances to severe clinical imbalances. The illness affects almost 20 million Americans! The chances of serious sleep deprivation are higher in patients with serious depressive tendencies.

ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES

Believe it or not, our surroundings and our activities have more to do with sleep than we are aware of. Everything from housemates, animals, outdoor noises, internal thoughts, dinner-time foods, and even technology can have serious consequences on sleep patterns. Both “hard sleepers” and “light sleepers” are affected by these external circumstances! Some of them are easily remedied, whereas others are more difficult to conquer.

Whatever the case is, sleep is a critical part of living a healthy and balanced life. There’s not always an easy fix for the bigger issues, but we have the opportunity to change the things within our control. When it comes to modern culture, we care about maximizing every minute of our day. Often times, that means we want to neglect sleep and instead recharge with supplemental energy. What happens when sleep is necessary, but our bodies and/ or minds won’t slow down enough to actually let go?

Sleep supplements are on the rise, and some people claim they are extraordinarily helpful with those who experience difficulty with sleep. Whether chronic or just a bad day, a high quality sleep supplement is a natural way to help coordinate your body’s rest patterns back to normal.

We have several formulas for sleep supplements, and we are happy to accommodate any custom formula that you may be interested in. Call or email us today for a quote on a sleep supplement you can be proud to provide to your customers!

Many may never have expected that algae would be marketable, and yet it absolutely is!

Spirulina is a cyanobacterium, meaning it is a blue-green algae. It is found at the bottom of large bodies of water and can be seen in either salt or fresh waters. When spirulina is harvested and gathered in the raw form the consistency is similar to a paste. From that point, it undergoes a process to become a powder-like substance that can be consumed. With good reason, Spirulina is quickly becoming a hot trend in wellness culture. It can be added to juices, smoothies, salads, and taken directly as a supplement.

Spirulina is one of the oldest living organisms. The Aztecs used it for illness prevention and treatment of more serious conditions. It boomed in the 1980s when NASA claimed it had the potential to grow in Space to be consumed by astronauts. Since then, Spirulina has been a beloved superfood and supplement in holistic medicine and wellness culture.

Spirulina is often compared to Chlorella which is a green algae containing similar nutrients and benefits. Chlorella’s green color suggests it is richer in chlorophyll than Spirulina, whereas Spirulina is richer in protein and healthy fats. Some claim Spirulina is the most nutrient dense food on the planet, and while that’s debatable, it is certainly in the running.

Spirulina is abundantly rich in the following:

Protein

Spirulina contains 50-60% protein by weight and it has all of the essential amino acids. It’s often compared to eggs as a small but mighty source of protein. There are 4 grams in 1 tablespoon of Spirulina!

Vitamin B1

Vitamin B1 is commonly known as Thiamine. It is absolutely necessary for the digestion of fats and proteins. It is amazing because it helps convert food into energy which aids nutrient absorption for the entire body.

Iron

Spirulina is a dark blue-green color and is a worthy source of iron- much like many other green plants. People who don’t consume other foods that contain iron or those with anemia may consider it a good supplement.

Calcium

It is widely acknowledged that dairy is the greatest source of calcium, however, Spirulina surpasses milk by 26 times! The calcium intake from Spirulina is unmatched.

The list of nutrients and benefits goes on and on. There are so many studies showing just how beneficial Spirulina powder and Spirulina supplements can be for the body, and each study brings us closer to realizing the full potential of this incredible plant. It is important to note dosage information and warnings as this superfood is power-packed and should not be overused. If you have questions about the dosage of Spirulina in your formula, we can help!

GMP uses the highest quality ingredients, all purchased from suppliers who are licensed and insured to sell in the United States. If you aren’t carrying it already, submit a quote request for Spirulina supplements or powder to us today!

The idea of consuming Lion’s Mane probably sounds pretty odd to most people. In fact, most would be extremely hesitant or even averse to try anything with the name “Lion’s Mane”. The truth is that understanding this ingredient could lessen the opposition and correct misperceptions. Originally, it begins as a large mushroom that’s white/ cream in color with long dangling spines- its’ nickname is the “hedgehog” mushroom. It tends to grow on hardwood trees and it’s, surprisingly, not too difficult to find. It is native to China, Japan, Europe, and even North America.

This description likely won’t help someone unfamiliar with holistic medicine. Put simply, it is cooked down and can be consumed in several, far less intimidating, ways than the raw mushroom, such as Four Sigmatic’s mushroom coffee, Kettle Fire’s bone broth, various soups, and supplements. It has recently gained popularity in Western holistic medicine, but it has been used as an Eastern medicinal supplement for years. The primary benefits of consumption are claimed to be memory, anxiety, depression, and supporting the nervous system. Limited research has been done to prove Lion’s Mane as a trustworthy medicinal treatment for serious medical conditions. However, there is a reason to believe this ingredient could prove to be beneficial when consumed for mild or precautionary symptoms.

Mental Stamina

Lion’s Mane is said to stimulate the NGF, or “nerve growth factor.” This is what helps the brain both process and transmit information. This can greatly increase focus, memory, and concentration, which are critical to just about anyone. Older individuals fighting Alzheimer’s, Dementia or general memory loss could take this supplement with the hope of stronger NGF support and improved brain function. Additionally, a hard-working student who lives a healthy lifestyle may consider taking this supplement to stay focused during hours of homework and testing.

Anxiety and Depression

The number of Americans who struggle with anxiety and depression is unbelievable. These conditions plague the lives of so many from young teens to older adults. There are numerous theories about how these conditions begin, but we do know they are directly linked to the nervous system. Problems with anxiety are said to be present in nearly 40 million Americans from the age of 18 and older. Similarly, nearly 16 million experience the effects of depression. Many of these people report feelings of irritation and fear. The overall internal balance of their body seems off, and nothing seems to help fix it. Amazingly, the NGF can reduce these feelings and even level out the extreme lows reported with depression.

Lion’s Mane is gaining momentum in the health community, and it is exciting to think this may help remedy cognitive functions that plague so many people. As always, serious conditions should be addressed by a doctor. People interested in taking any supplement should talk to a doctor about possible side effects when paired with other medications. If you are interested in creating a supplement that includes Lion’s Mane for your company, call us today!

Vitamins and minerals are essential to our overall well-being. They provide our body with what it needs to function efficiently and maintain health. As you’re well aware, supplements provide a critical way for people to replenish their bodies with what could be lacking. In fact, some people suffer from deficiencies that are impossible to control without some kind of supplement. We hope to explain some of the most common deficiencies and how to supplement them in this article. We hope they serve as helpful tips for your own business. If you’re a provider, the following are also essential to stock your shelves with.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is a wonderful antioxidant that is thought to protect the heart and prevent damage from free radicals. It is a powerful vitamin that may also help reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease and cancer. Despite the importance of this vitamin, around 80% of Americans do not receive the necessary amount of vitamin E. It can be found in some foods including sunflower seeds, almonds, and avocado. However, this is a supplement that should be considered by more people.

Iron

Low iron means abnormally low red blood cells. This will eventually lead to a condition called anemia. There are different versions of this condition, but iron-deficient anemia is the most common. Symptoms of an iron deficiency will vary depending on the severity, but often include poor concentration, low energy, and headaches. Adding things like green vegetables, lentils, various nuts and seeds, and dried fruit will help increase your iron intake. If food isn’t enough, an iron supplement is a good idea.

Magnesium

Magnesium is more commonly associated with chemistry class than with our bodies. However, almost 75% of Americans do not meet their recommended intake for this mineral! Magnesium is over 600 cellular reactions! We need magnesium for healthy brain function, heartbeat, and muscle contractions. The symptoms for suffering from low magnesium would be pain or cramping in your muscles. You could experience an overall fatigue, muscle fatigue, or just a dull weakness that affects your strength. It’s obvious that we want to stay on top of this before a deficiency presents itself. This is one of the most unknown, yet important, supplements that people should be taking.

Deficiencies are common and can be experienced by many people, but they should be supplemented accordingly. We manufacture vitamins, supplements, and powders to providers so people can live healthier lives. We are passionate about the process and formula used in supplements so the supplements we manufacture meet people’s needs and give relief to their ailments. If you’re a provider, think about expanding your product line or label to include any of these supplements, and if you do, our experienced team is ready to help you get started! We will manufacture your already created formula exactly as you wish or our experienced R&D team can help you with your formulas.

People live with high stress, lots of coffee, and little sleep. Men, women, college students, and even high school teens experience an overwhelming amount of stress in their lives. Instead of letting go or making changes, we supplement sleep with caffeine, and we keep running harder and faster.

Our bodies can, and will, max out if we’re not careful. This cycle is not healthy, and the body will not maintain itself without proper care and attention. The following steps promise to keep you moving and working in a healthy way.

SLEEP

If the antagonist is stress, then the protagonist is good sleep. Most people would be shocked to hear that we should be getting 7-9 hours of sleep every night. For most, this concept is a joke. Sleep is considered wasted time because nothing is accomplished. However, the lack of sleep can actually end up slowing you down because you get sluggish, unfocused, and careless.

WATER

Water is another simple cure for a multitude of issues. Drinking 64 ounces of water daily increases energy, reduces headaches, flushes out toxins, and boosts the immune system. Even more, coffee is a diuretic (meaning it dehydrates your body) so it’s even more important to drink enough water so that you are replenishing what’s lost.

SUPPLEMENTS

Health food stores carry dozens of options that promise increased energy, good mood, pointed focus, and the likes. It can be hard to believe that an “all natural” supplement made from plants and vitamins would make any difference to our energy. The amazing thing is that when paired with good sleep and a healthy water intake- these vitamins really do come with promise! They are carefully crafted to release the right amount of natural energy so that your body steadily maintains it throughout the day.

STILLNESS

If you start your day with stress and anxiety, then your hormonal (men and women) balance will be thrown off. Your body is set into “survival mode”, and continues in this state throughout the day. It is a constant state of feeling anxiety and pressure mentally, physically, and emotionally. This state is not healthy or sustainable. However, if you start your day with at least 10 minutes of stillness then you can set yourself up for a more sustainable focused energy throughout the day. One that comes from genuine confidence, strength, and stability. This practice has greater power than “survival mode”.

If you want more energy, maybe hesitate before drinking another coffee. Think first about the entire mind-body balance and the state of health you’re in. Pursue things that don’t just treat symptoms, but really address the root of the issue. Sleep, water, natural supplements, and stillness are simple additions that can create a much healthier space for extra energy.

Lastly, ingredients, dosage information and quality labels on supplements matter. GMP uses the highest quality ingredients (all purchased from suppliers who are licensed and insured to sell in the United States) to create products that people want and need. If you have an interest in selling an energy or a focus supplement, then feel free to reach out! We would be more than happy to work with you in creating the perfect formula for your clients!

Have you walked into Whole Foods, Sprouts, or any other grocery store and seen the vitamin and supplements section? It’s usually packed with hundreds of options ranging from Ginger to Digestive Enzymes to Evening Primrose. There are so many options, and it can be challenging to know how to choose what’s right for you.

Supplements provide vitamins and minerals that our bodies lack. Three of the most common needs are calcium, vitamin B12, and vitamin D. These vitamins replenish people who are naturally lacking so that they can function the way their body has been designed to.

1. Calcium Keeps Your Body Strong

Our bodies need calcium to keep our bones strong. Calcium is found in a number of the foods we eat which means that most people get enough through their everyday diet. Dairy is the most abundant source; so organic yogurt, milk, cheese (and maybe even ice cream) are sufficient resources for our body to absorb the calcium it needs. However, many vegans and people who have digestive intolerances should seek out options to replenish the lack of calcium in their diet. Many women are advised to take calcium for the prevention of osteoporosis, a condition that weakens the bones.

2. Vitamin B12 Supplements Treat Deficiencies

B12 is vital to our bodies for making red blood cells, which carry oxygen through the circulatory system. A severe lack of vitamin B12 can cause serious symptoms that impact a person’s everyday life. One of the most well-known issues is the extreme fatigue associated with low B12. Some people, whether they’re deficient or not, choose to take a B12 supplement instead of consuming caffeine. It’s a natural way to boost energy levels, without the caffeine crash.

Symptoms for low B12 levels include:

Pins and needles sensation in the hands, legs, and feet

FatigueJoint pain

Shortness of breath

Swollen tongue

Cognitive difficulties

3. Vitamin D Regulates Mineral Absorption

Vitamin D is also known as the sunshine vitamin because the sun is actually a source of the vitamin! Many people who stay indoors due to weather, health, or preference experience low Vitamin D levels. There are also health conditions such as endometriosis, kidney disease or other digestive problems that cause the body strain in absorbing the vitamin.

Warning signs of a deficiency include:

Fatigue

Aches and pains

Malaise

Severe bone and muscle pain

Stress fractures in the hips, pelvis or legs

These vitamins are important for our bodies to function the way they’re meant to. We manufacture them so that people can supplement what may be lacking in their natural diet. We already have a solidified plan, composition, and process for these supplements, plus thousands of other vitamin and supplement formulas. GMP uses the highest quality ingredients to create products that your clients want and need. If you’re thinking about expanding your product line or label to include any of these three vitamins, our experienced team is ready to help you get started.
